Lecanium Scale

Lecanium Scale

May 22, 2013 Bugs and Crud

Lecanium scale is a soft scale creep that feeds directly from the tree.  They affect many species of tree, and are very common on willow oak in the greater Charlotte area.  They are hatching now.  This immature phase of lecanium scale lifecycle is called the 'crawler' phase, and is when these creeps are most vulnerable to insecticide treatments.
