The Cankerworm Moth Females are Crawlin'

December 24, 2013 Bugs and Crud

The female cankerworm moth has been spotted in multiple traps throughout the Charlotte Metro Area.  The adults hatch over the course of weeks, so if you haven’t banded your trees yet do it today.  Each female can lay up to 100 eggs, and each of those eggs can produce a ravenous foliar feeding cankerworm.  If you don't band foliar treatment options are available in the spring.  You can read more about the cankerworm from our info sheet  'The Cankerworm: Life Stages and Action Items'
